Things I've gone off
Spimf says: I've always enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd, but lately I've noticed if my iPod plays any of their tracks, I skip them. I'm starting to realise I've gone off them. What have you gone off lately?

Discovery channel
Used to be about the only thing I watched, but most of it is just made up rubbish and Mythbusters now.
Seems we have gone from documentary, to reality, to fake reality. There's some program about Moonshiners, another about smugglers, one about people who do street racing in their cars, and somethign about a bike gang.
All of them apparently are engaged in illegal activity, so yeah, I'm sure they are just fine with a film crew following them around as they do it.
Load of cobblers.

I've always thought the Discovery Channel was a bit shit.
All the documentaries are ruined by being in that rubbish American TV resolution which is all blurry and orange.

My Uncle was a BBC cameraman and bashed the American NTSC format.
He said it should really mean 'No Two Similar Colours'

I think you'll find that your quotation is correct in the context of what everybody else says.
However what I said is what he says. He's getting on a bit now, mind.

I know what you mean, but I thought that had been solved.
In HD it seems fine.

Probably - but my uncle is still stuck in the 90s when he was still working.

I'd watch that.
As you mention it, those 'how it's made' kind of programs are still worth the time.

Something not the same as it used to be, you say.
I do hope that you have visited the Discovery Channel website where you can post your ideas and also discuss each show. Each show having it's own forum for further ideas and debate. I am sure the people there would love to hear your ideas and some of those ideas may even be used. Good luck.

Amish Mafia.
The most ridiculous show in the history of Discovery Channel's programming.

Oh yeah, that's another one.
Utter bullshit, although I have in mind they put a disclaimer at the end, something to the effect that some or maybe all of the scenes are actors.
I watched half an episode of it, gave up when they apparently robbed some guy of his stock of furniture and set it all on fire.

Sky
When I got Sky (many years ago) I thought "ooh great I can watch the Military documentaries and learn stuff." After a few episodes of some WW2 tank programme I found myself screaming at the TV "You're wrong!" So much info was just wrong ( Jagdpanthers had a 75mm gun?) I just gave up.

I'm actually quite partial to a bit of
"Dirty Jobs" and will happily hum "Boom De Yada" all day.
