This is a question Advice from Old People

Sometimes, just sometimes, old people say something worth listening to. Ok, so it's like picking the needle out of a whole haystack of mis-remembered war stories, but those gems should be celebrated.

Tell us something worthwhile an old-type person has told you.

Note, we're leaving the definition of old up to you, you smooth-skinned youngsters.

Can I just point out
That the last month+ worth of QOTWs have been absolutely fantastic: original, fun to read, varied and with plenty of scope for hilarity and poignancy. The Best of Week pages have been Best of the Internets.

Since we always complain about the bad ones, I just thought I'd take this chance to bow to our overlords.

I'm not old (honest guv) but I can advise you guys to keep it up!

Apologies for length, I just REALLY like the QOTW...

Meh.
I've had no real stories to post since the books one. Madam Marlboro called me "b3ta royalty" on Thursday ( - yay me - ) but, even if that's true, I'm really not living up to it at the moment.

I've been on b3ta for less than a year. Can I really have exhausted my cache of hilarious anecdotes already?

*fears*

I've been on for 6 years
I do agree that the last few QOTWs have been much better than the bad patch we went through a little while ago.

I never seem to have anything relevant to post anymore, though. It would seem that I'm getting B3ta Alzheimer's.

I've really enjoyed the last few QOTWs
But not had many stories.
That's fine though, everyone else seems to, and I'm enjoying reading them!

@Kaol
I've enjoyed reading them as well. But I'd like to have written a few. It's ages since I was on the "best of" page. Even CHCB has stopped pointing out how poor a show I'm making compared to her.

Actually, she hasn't.

I
ran out of good stories about me months ago, now its shit puns or nothing!

@Enzyme
You and CHCB = the Queen and King of b3ta edited per CHCB.

Plus, you've got so much brain power between you I'm totally in awe!

I concur
b3ta has been good for me.

I used to think I was clever....

To be fair
Is it REALLY a bad thing that the QOTW regulars haven't been getting as many "best of" answers?

They usually do for a reason: brilliant stories and writing skills; but even so, I've almost preferred reading "lesser-known" members' answers as it provides a different style, and I can't predict the ending.

Plus glancing over recent bestseses, I'm still seeing plenty of the big faces so I wouldn't worry quite yet!

@Adamish
It's lovely to see when a new person turns up who really contributes something to the life of the board. And, of course, the presence of good stories on the "best of" page is far more important than whose stories they are - noone in their right mind would gainsay that.

Still - it'd be nice if more of them were mine...

:)

I'm sure
they will be :-)

And if not, hey, I ran out of stories less than a year in :-/

And in homage to the previous qotw...
mehehehe...you said "keep it up."

sniggers.

I'm running low on stories at the moment
but I'm sure that I'll think of something amusing sooner or later. If nothing else I can simply tell you of off-topic bits of lunacy from current life, such as the Taunting Of The Squirrel.

But honestly, if I don't make the Best Of page on a regular basis but instead find it full of stories from people I don't know, I'm quite happy to read their stuff instead. Making teh Best Of page is flattering, but it's not my only motivation for posting...
