This is a question World of Random

There's a pile of scrap timber, rubble and general turds in the road opposite my work with a hand-written sign reading "Free Shed". Tell us about random, completely hatstand stuff and people you've seen

I don't know about up your way, but here in London there was a spate of this in order to ape the New York gangs
who throw the sneakers of erm ... fallen "comrades"/brothers -whatever they call themselves - over telephone wires in order to mark territory and battlegrounds.

According to the Walsall Express & Star (that bastion of fine journalism)
the trainers mark drug dealers' houses

Fair enough. I've just been instructed that gang members refer to each other as "soldiers".
And yet - and yet - whenever they kill each other in some pathetic postcode allegiance battle, they're always referred to as "A promising young footballer" or "gifted academic", instead of of "drug-dealing, illiterate, brain-shatteringly stupid scumbag who got what was coming from well over a mile off, considering that it's pretty well impossible to not be able to predict how it's all going to end up."

If it's a girl who's stabbed or shot
she's always an "aspiring model" rather than a chavvy slag

Alternatively
'bubbly and outgoing' frequently means she was a bit dim and not the prettiest.

I highly doubt they were put up there for that reason or anything remotely as subtle as that.

Chances are it was just some drunkards who decided it would be the funniest thing, since Joe Pasquale, to take somebody's shoes, tie the laces together and throw them over the telephone cable.

The only battlegrounds we have here are when the entire town divides into half and fight over a leather ball 3 times every year. ALso known as Uppies and Downies.
