This is a question Money-saving tips

I'm broke, you're broke, we're all broke. Even the smug guy on the balcony with the croissant hasn't got two AmEx gold cards to rub together these days. Tell everybody your schemes to save cash.

Buy a push bike and cycle the equivalent distance that you'd drive to sit on a bike that doesn't actually go anywhere.

You'll be amazed by the monthly savings.

There are downsides to the plan.
I've never met anyone who had to take time off work after a gym bike accident. There are also many days during the year when cycling would be a cold, damp, miserable experience -- which hardly allowys for regular excersize. It's also probably not recommended that you listen to music or watch TV whilst cycling which, once you've visited the local routes a few times, means it becomes as dull as the gym anyhow.
FWIW I don't do either but every time I think of buying a bike I remeber cycling in my youth and the above and wonder whether it's worth it.

I cycle on the weekends and often in the rain/cold. I commute in that same weather as well. But doing decent distance(30 miles +) in the winter is hard and dangerous due to the levels of darkness on the country roads my rides tend to be around. So I do a spin class now to keep my hand in.
