This is a question Screwed over by The Man

We once made a flash animation for a record company. They told us it was brilliant and 30 staff gave us a round of applause. They asked us to stick it out without their name on it. Then their legal department sent us a cease and desist for infringing their copyright. How have you been screwed over?

I worked for a company for 7 years...
...in sales. Smashed every target ever put in front of me. Was top 3 out of 100 people on the floor. One day my boss decided to get rid of me.....illegally get rid of me. Apparently I was a bad influence on the floor, too much of an individual (actual words used by him) and a rebel.

Strangely 4 months earlier my mum bought me a £10 spy pen with a video camera in it and I'd had a feeling something was going to happen in work so I'd been testing it out in meetings, learning how to hold it, how the mike performed, the distance I needed to be from the sibject to get a clear picture and the amount of time I had available to record. When they dragged me in an openly admitted what they did was illegal I filmed every moment and used it in my negociations to eventually get 30k out of them.

How did they screw me? They knew I had an open and shut case and couldn't afford to go to court. In court I'd of got 66K plus loss of earnings.

Plus, I lost a job I was really good at. Cunts.

did you ever consider that maybe you were a bad influence?
I'm not saying you were. I don't know you. But people are generaly blind to their own faults, and don't see themselves as others see them. Most companies are generally pretty cash driven, and will put up with a lot from a good salesman as long as they perform for the simple reason that he makes them money. I wonder what their motivations were?

I look back on it and yes I was a bad influence.
Still, Rooney is a cunt and they dont sack him.

some people are just control freaks, and would rather the business suffer than not have everyone toe the line
your boss might have just been one of those sort of pricks

There's no "may" about it.
He was. But stangely nearly 18 months on I forgive him. I'm too old to hold grudges, he's a multi millionaire and I'll never win. Take your medicine, learn your lesson and move on. Dont get me wrong if the opportunity arrises where I can inflict bad aids on him then I will, but right now I'm past all of that.

And then you used the payout to buy a Japanese car and some hooker and massive drugs and shit.

Worse than that.
A ford Fiesta and a wedding!

I'm calling bullshit
because hidden recordings without consent are not admissable in these types of cases. That and the fact £10 spy pens that record video and sound don't fucking exist

And I call: COCK

Okay so I was a fiver out on the cost but it was a present so I've never seen a receipt.

It never went to court (as I believe I said) so all I had to do was get them to deny they said anything on the tape and as due process was not followed, as counter evidence, it becomes admissable as I was not allowed representation.

Seriously, what do I have to gain by making this up? If I was going to make it up I'd of got caught shagging the bosses wife on his desk whislt wearing a John Major mask shouting "I fucking love eggs me, love em".

Hmm I thought it a bit weird too
A similar thing happened to a mate of mine. He was being forced out of the company illegally and managed to record the boss admitting as much(on a dictaphone thing iirc, no spy cameras or owt).

When he tried pulling it in was told by the company legals that it was 'entrapment' and that his 'evidence' was inadmissable in any court or tribunal because the boss could have be led into making the statement and that there were no credible witnesses. Basically they told him 'Give it your best shot, you havent got a fucking chance'

Just sayin' like

So the legal representative of the people he was trying to get money from told him not to bother...and he followed their advice?
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 12:00, closed)

That's not entirely true. If the recording countered a false statement entered as evidence by the company, or proved discrimination it could be accepted.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 12:16, closed)
Exactly.
I thank you.

30k isn't a bad result for a rebel like you
what a bizarre gift to get from your mum though. maybe she was dropping hints that she wanted you to 'secretly' film her while she was having a shit and then wank off over it or something?
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 11:26, closed)
Ahhh!
That explains the toilet duck, video camera and vaseline gift set my mum gave me for my last birthday.
(, Wed 8 Aug 2012, 12:01, closed)
I dont look at it as a present any more.
....i look at it as the best investment ever made. £10 in, 30k out in 4 months. In your face LIBOR cunts.
