how so many people with no experience in aeronautics, volcanology or meteorology, are suddenly all experts on whether planes can fly safely in these conditions

that several F-16s flying regularly through the cloud had reported damage that was enough evidence for me. Sending a brand new plane on one flight from Heathrow to Cardiff couldn't possibly give an accurate measure of long term abrasive effects.
