# haha sorry
but i just saw this story

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1267404/Iceland-volcano-eruption-Met-Office-criticised-6-day-UK-airspace-closure.html
'A scientific model based on ‘probability’ rather than fact was used by the government agency to forecast the spread of the volcanic ash cloud, according to critics.'

what the fuck do they think weather forecasts are? if we rely on 'fact' we're reduced to looking out of the window and saying

'ooh, there's no ash there right now. let's put a plane up!'

'err, chief, there's a wind from iceland'

'THERE'S NO ASH THERE NOW, IS THERE? put a plane up, cunt'

- two hours later -

# Apparently they're sending up their oldest pilots
And I think it was KLM sent up their chief executive. I suspect a board mutiny is in progress there.

# It's amazing
how so many people with no experience in aeronautics, volcanology or meteorology, are suddenly all experts on whether planes can fly safely in these conditions

# When they said on the radio last night
that several F-16s flying regularly through the cloud had reported damage that was enough evidence for me. Sending a brand new plane on one flight from Heathrow to Cardiff couldn't possibly give an accurate measure of long term abrasive effects.

# I love how some 2 hour max test flights
are immediately equivalent to 10,000 2 hour MIN flights.

I suspect that some of these journalists have little conception of statistics.
