but Austin powers did a fairly good job of making that all seem ridiculous.

I think Brosnan's films (however much I may detest him) did a fairly good job of combinign the two (Goldeneye especially).

QoS went far too far in the wrong direction and as a result was VERY dissapoitning

I want Bond to look like he could give you a good thrashing.

I do miss the slight silliness though, but i hope it never goes back to the Moore level of it...

but austin powers was a parody of something that was already quite good at taking the piss out of itself. That's all gone now, it takes itself far too seriously.
