I've heard some lovely new music this year

one by Pinback and one by Sparrow and the Workshop.
Pinback are poo, don't bother. It's like listening to Pavement with neither charm nor tunes -- which says a lot if you felt that Pavement were a bunch of charmless fuckers who droned in monotones.
The Sparrow and the Workshop album is ace though - fuck knows why they've saddled themselves with a name that will guarantee that they won't make it. Probably some "hilarious" "whacky" shit. Bands, eh? What won't they think of next?

I turned Spotify on, listened to the "top hit" by them. Saw the "The OC" logo in the album art corner. Already dubious. 13 seconds it lasted until I turned it off

I'm going to send them a bill demanding payment for my lost 90 minutes.

I don't listen to the radio, nor watch music television, and most songs I've heard this year have been Lady GaGa, and Florence and her fucking noisy machine

It's like glueing coarsly ground glass to a piece of very hairy string and flossing your ears as vigorously as you can.
