jai think the siver foil might work better, or maybe using les dreid out petals that might not absorb the glue so much, (as it was i had to lay it on quite thick before it'd take, so the lines aren't as fiddly as on the pen ones i did)

You could try it backwards.Glue and foil a fresh petal, then dry it.

Or even more backwards make the metal virusy bit before hand, and then attach it.If you're working with a less fragile surface you might be able to make the metal leaf smoother.
