Yeah I read about that too.Was definitely interested in getting VALIS after hearing that. But it's not the plot that bothers me per se. I mean the distance the protagonist travels is a little iffy, it's just the way the twist is delivered seems a little quick. However, the ending, (which I had no idea eventually carried more weight with him than I) was really quite beautiful.
