People hardly ever say "going postal" any more over here.It was originally based on the fact that so many mailmen flipped and shot a bunch of people.
Now that absolutely everyone flips and shoots a bunch of people, we just refer to them by location: mall shooter, school shooter, that sort of thing.
I think you can tell a lot about a society from how its language evolves.
