# I don't get why people want to commemorate an area of tarmac
surely where the person liked to be would make a more fitting shrine.

Unless the point is to make people aware of the blackspot - in which case demand a SLOW DOWN sign from the council, not a fucking distracting flower display to make it more dangerous.

Or more likely, the other driver survived and the family want to remind him/her every single day

*edit - fuck, we sound like Daily Mail readers

# Maybe they're really pagan sacrifice sites
Sacrificing unwary travellers through "accidents" to shift the balance of road safety karma towards that of the ritualist.

It all makes sense.

# there are a couple around here that I know of
that have full on gravestones and the like at them.

One of them even completely obscured the reflector post that warned of the dangerous bend on the narrow road that the chav idiot driving at 88mph got killed at. I felt very Victor Meldrew, but I had to inform the council to get them to at least clear the tribute back a bit, which thankfully they did

# my mum & dad live on a bad bend
that no one slows down for despite the massive chevrons. my dad suggested putting some flowers there might get drivers' attention.

mind you, he ran someone over just up the road, so what would he know about road safety...
