
At my local train station, they painted green steps on the left to indicate walking, and red ones on the right to indicate standing still. Now 95% of the people think it's obligatory to stand still on the right.

I don't care much for the signs though. I think people should walk when it's very crowded, and stand when it's quiet and they feel like it. Now all they pay attention to are the signs, be it quiet or busy.
