To be fair this is one of the best messageboards I've seen, purely because of that.The very fact that you don't have people posting a couple of words, followed by a signature that takes up half the screen on its own because it's full of the post that was replied to repeated again, random information (such as it is), a series of quotes, an endless sucession of animated gifs and smileys, anime porn, etc etc. I don't think the people on here would go for all that sort of thing in their posts anyway, but not having the ability in the first place keeps things tidy and you get more emphasis on the content that way.

i'm not complaining about the way it looksjust the way it works. a constantly auto-refreshing /board could help it to feel more "happening" (for want of a less unfashionable word) rather than the "static" feel it seems to have.
