'officially', files should be under 400kb, which can be a bit tricky. - try messing with the optimisation settings in whatever you used, otherwise a quick google search will help.

For some reason, people can over-react to large file sizes around here. :)

EDIT: And watch-out for Wasp Box. He's easily aroused, yet difficult to resist.
