The only downside for me was that it never really gave any idea of how strong he actually is.

He found his humility too quickly for my liking, speaking from experience.
However the asgard sequances and stuff with the frost giants made me pine for home.
I still think the first ironman has been the best of the bunch of marvel films, it was the most complete, rounded and accessable of them.
I'm looking forward to captian america, which, judging by what has been shown in the trailers, has the potential to be awesome.
I will probably go and see thor again in 2D, of all he 3D films i've seen it's always been more a hinderance if i'm honest, 3D has not enhanced the big screen experiance for me, and there are to many 3D films being rushed out on the bandwagon for my liking.
