The 4MB is an observation, this page is hardly light, so all the whining about mobile phones and stuff, well it has merit but its hardly a 10 fold increase.

is asking for fucking enormous data charges and frankly deserves what they get. but there are people on capped broadband and b3ta alone can use up quite a bit of that.

plus i tend to feel it's just simple reasonable manners to optimise something as far as possible. alas, they raised the file-size "limit" from an arbitrary 50k to an equally arbitrary 100k, so everyone posts pictures that are a WHOLE 100k big!!!! there's no craftsmanship anymore.

i just throw them up at as near to 100k as i can be bothered to make them. and i'm too lazy to make animations. i've avoided flaming so far. i just tend to get ignored instead.
