I don't think a smart, unnaturally strong guy on mega-steroids is too much of a stretch on the Nolan Bat-verse.

So far, most feats of super-strength have been explained by martial arts/gadgets.So to see how Nolan will go about Bane's conception will be interesting, unlike that other film *cough*Batman and Robin*cough*.
