
The area I live in gets cicadas -- late summer almost every year.
The common cicadas hang on trees, and sing at night.
These guys fly across the interstate highway in areas with lots of trees. My car and I have been going through a lot of window washing fluid this week :)

and there's a 17-year cycle (I think) variety here too which came out after I'd been here 5 or 6 years. They were absolutely everywhere for about 2 weeks.
