I took lots of photos in a real desert, and none of them came out any good.

i was going to ad some eyes to some of the rocks to make it look like it was alive

some of them did contain a roadrunner!
One of the places we visited, there were a bunch of prarie dogs living in holes in the ground. We watched them for a while and then a roadrunner ran past us and chased one of them.
Roadrunners are supposed to be pretty shy, and as far as I know they don't hunt prarie dogs. Maybe it was confused, I don't know. I do know that it wasn't very photogenic though, at least not for me.
