Have you seen any rock paintings or petroglyphs yourself?I think things like that are fucking awesome.
We once found some hidden away in a desert in Arizona. Most are protected now, or at least in national parks, but these were just there at the top of a rock mound we climbed in the open desert. Seriously gave me shivers finding them.
