I think the only time I've seen a badger was in a farm sort of place a year or two ago.
It wasn't as shabby as you described a wild badger, of course.
I've seen both wild and 'domesticated' foxes, and I only really notice very subtle differences.

I'm always seeing foxes...
When I see a nice one I always go "Arh lovely fox" when I she a shabby one I always go "Arh poor thing"
Just my first ever experience of seeing the badger (Which I alaways thought would be a real treat) was, "What the fuck is that hidious flea ridden mess walking accross the road"..!!
