It is however an example of a film that scooped loads of awards and was extremely highly regarded in the industry that I didn't like...

I was half distracted by remembering that it almost won the Oscar for best picture.

As for straight to tv cgi shows, yes, most production companies make generic fodder, you were suggesting they'd never done good not that they'd done some bad.
