I can empathize. I lived two years waiting for electric on my present property. It's a story. But I ran a generator. Having power is a real luxury. Or not having it is no fun.

WowI can deal with having no lights. And if it carried on much longer I'd get 3G and a car charger for the laptop. But not being able to store fresh food turns out to be a huge problem which I hadn't seriously considered initially.

3G and a laptop was all I had. And a propane fridge. And the constant roar of a diesel generator.
3G is still all I have. It's the price one pays for not living in a metro area. And I'm lucky I get that. I had Hughes satellite for ten years. I literally threw a computer out my window once. That was counterproductive to say the least. :)
