Good morning DavidI did this a couple of years ago. Put a tape deck under my monitor and just recorded away. Didn't have any specific software though. Sounds interesting. Not that I have most of the tapes anymore.

Yes, took me several months.But I just popped a tape in there when I was busy doing other things.
Certainly, I missed a couple of song endings from time to time. But being able to do other things while it recorded away and occasionally rerecording a song more than made up for not having to sit around waiting for them.
