# panty & stocking was quite good, though the production quality and stories fluctuated from brilliant, to dire towards the end
The art style drew me in - its a breath of fresh air. Pretty good, crude humour for an anime too - kind of like powerpuff girls meets south park.

# oh yeah, that was awesome, it was a complete "let's take the piss out of the otakus" from start to finnish though
:)

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi by the same folks was another good one, once you get your head around it. it's largely insane humour for the most of it too.

# FLCL was one of the finest animes ever - so stylish and well made.
I love Gainax, but i hate what theyve done with evangelion now though.

Ive seen Abenobashi and quite liked all the pop culture references in that one episode (rocky, fist of the north star, bruce lee etc). Cant remember much else about it though :-/

# it's make vacant moe shit or go out of business.
japan was already pretty fucked economically now it's hurtling into the shitter, anime's probably not the highest of their worries.

# Yeah its a shame
Back in the 80s and 90s, the average otaku room was all gundam and fist of the north star. Now its all pink posters, boob mouse pads, frilly skirted figures with removable clothing and body hugging pillows with pre-pubescent girls on.

# stuff comes in phases
plus I think a lot of folks might want to be saying "KISS IT" to that tokyo mayor's ordinance about "material to corrupt the youth" and trying to see what they can get away with now.

Ah well, half the fun is finding good shit is it not.
