Edumucation tiem! A Luma Matte is based on the dark and light pixels which used to create a transparency mask for the original.
So all purely black pixels will be 100% transparent and
Pure White pixels 100% opaque you can invert this matte for the opposite effect.

Surely that chunked massive holes in her face whichever way round you did it?While that sounds like a fantastic idea, I'd rather do it with a chisel than on a computer.
