I use the PS pen tool and play around with the bezier points.It's a bit fiddly at first but if you get the hang of using keyboard shortcuts to control the tools it quickly becomes comfortable.
Should probably use Illustrator for that kind of thing but I've never been sufficiently motivated to learn it given that PS is so familiar.
