i'm saddened today, it seems that terry pratchett has actually decided to end his own life. this is not good.

if the guardian is to be believed. i know he was thinking about it, but it's terrible that he feels this is his only option.

My mother in law used to run a care home for Alzheimer's patients. With a decent standard of care and an informed approach to medication (i.e. don't just smack 'em off their eyes from dawn till dusk), patients can enjoy a really good quality of life.
I know Sir Terry's deeply worried about the deterioration of his faculties, and at the end of the day it's his call, but sad as you say, to think that he feels death is preferable :o(
