sounds like the right-wing are looking for anything they can to have a pop at Labour. Diane Abbott apparently was using the context of the Slave-Trade but was foolish enough not to qualify her statement as such and therefore her words do look to be racist even if she didn't mean it to sound that way - she should really check herself before making comments as sensitive as this.

To be fair, I can only imagine what life would be like if someone were jamming a microphone in my face at every opportunity or reading my tweets like tea leaves. I mean, I'm barely coherent at the best of times.

I'm sure it's a pain in the arse, but these guys don't go into the profession blind; the press will jump on every single opportunity to make a mountain of a story out of a molehill though - read twice, post once :)
