# Tell me more, tell me more
Do you mean a stroke style is playing up, or the lines aren't going where you want? Do you have Snap To Grid or Snap To Point turned on?

# I draw a line, and it's going "No, you don't want THAT line, you want THIS line."
The first/only thing I worked out to do in flash was how to vary the amount it modified it.

# Make sure you haven't got Smart Guides turned on.
When you move your pointer over the work, do you get lots of blue guides keep flashing up at all different angles?
Alternatively ... you don't have a keyboard with a dodgy shift key? ;)

# Smart guides? Hmmm.
I get the anchors when I use the selection cursors, not with the brush tool. And my shift kEY Is fiNE daMMiT

# I just turned smart guides off, not helping

# Or ... do you mean you're using a tablet and the Paint Brush or Pencil tools, and after you release the pressure the shape you've just drawn changes completely?
If so double-click the tool's icon, there are sensitivity and accuracy settings that can be altered here.

Sorry, this is all guesswork without seeing exactly what the problem is. Can you easily screenshot/ make a screen capture video?

# No worries, I thought you might be using a vector package already for some of your stuff ... or was that Flash
(, Mon 23 Jan 2012, 0:14, archived)
# Nah, it's all photoshop. I messed with flash for a few days but didn't stick with it.

# I found Flash to be unuseable for drawing anything in, but I do know a few people who swear by it.
I guess you just have to get used to a different way of working.

# Ooh, I've found how to turn anti-aliasing off.

# Ah. I guess from the above you're having problems with the Paint Brush.
As well as altering the settings, I recommend not working at too high a zoom level with this - the accuracy I think is measured in pixels, and so the closer you get to the work, the further it can drift out. I'd also suggest working with a decent size brush, nothing below about 4pt ... speaking from experience ;)
Also double-click the brush you're using in the Brushes palette and see what its settings are there, it may need tweaking

# Not too high a zoom? I usually work at between 200 and 300% :( You need to with a touchpad.
Oh well, I'll dig out the tablet and work from a distance
