I remember being a nipper in WH Smithand seeing a giant box of Shadow of the Beast 2 (I think it was a special edition with a T-shirt), about 4 times as big as the games around it, a real jaw-dropping moment.
I take your point about modern games, usually it's just the main character with the title stamped across him, just plain laziness, I suppose...
I recall when the NME reviewed albums in the 90s they used to get a cartoonist to caricature the group... now they just plant a photo of the group in there... sigh...
