The Marvel UK future timelines story does make it clear she was built to be a female robot. Though it does also point out that there are no genders; I acknowledge that. Though that makes the whole Hot Rod/Arcee thing a bit weirder.

The Jazz thing is even weirderhe points out that the difference between males and females is to do with the upper chassis design...yet the Jazz toy has a spectacularly-protruding chest
