A man that looks for 'what is' sees the world exactly as it is, recognizes the positives and the negatives, and realizes there are some things that no one can change -- especially when it comes to human nature. This person will therefore exploit the positives, try to minimize the negatives, but will always realize he CANNOT make the world bend to his will.
A man who looks for 'what he thinks should be' is looking for Utopia. When he talks, the first words out of his mouth are often 'In a perfect world...' He fails to realize this is NOT a perfect world (and never will be) and wastes his time and energies on futile efforts to make the world bend to HIS will and become HIS perfect paradise, all the time failing to see that no one else will agree with him 100% on what constitutes a 'perfect world.'
BOTTOM LINE: There's nothing wrong with trying to make the world a better place, but people who are grounded in reality will be much more successful at effecting positive change than those who have unrealistic expectations of life, this world, and the human beings in it.

another great man once said,
"I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Ooh!)
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change"
