
it's frantic because around the next corner you could meet the nasty goblin and not have time to kill him, landing you back in the cell to wander lost until you happen by chance upon the way out
i almost always skipped that - the only time i beat the game i didn't go anywhere near the goblin's dungeons. try as i might though i can't do it again, i just get into the same loop of being captured when i'm in the elves' dungeons

I might have to dig out an emulator and play it again, will set my expectations low enough not to be disappointed ;-)

I don't care how low your expectations are. Set them lower.
Also, get a C64 (or Speccy, but the C64 version is a bit superior) and get "Valhalla". Then entertain yourself telling Thor to throw his armour and weapons at Loki. Eventually he'll twig and refuse, so just give him money and start again. Good times will be had by all.
