In fact, if you don't mind me piggybacking on your pea, this compo reminded me of something I sketched in a lecture in 2007:
Excuse my handwriting. The steps read as follows:
(1) Matchbox racer slides down slide (2) Car funneled down tube (3) Car falls into bowl of water (Fish irrelevant) (4) Penguin, startled by moistened vehicle, drops mars bar
(5) Barcode scanner activated by confectionary (6) Signal from scanner interpreted by science machine (7) Lamp switched on (8) Solar panel produces energy, thanks to new source of illumination (9) Teeny tiny motor powered by solar panel, driving convayor belt (10) Poker driven (11) Teetering jug toppled (12) Batter mix poured (13) Lovely pancakes
