^ThisAlthough I imagine a large proportion of survivors will be battle re-enactors. Immediate access to chain mail, a shield and a functional sword will be a positive benefit, come the zombie holocaust.

Depends on how good the chain mail and the sword actually is.Very few places make it battle ready.

Not falling apart after a few whacks would do the trick, surely.How bad would chain mail need to be for a zombie to bite through it?
