Lots of DLC goodness.

What put me off ever getting it was the way that the price in the shops plummeted ...

But if you're a fan of the franchise, or are just eager to spend more time in the Wasteland, it's worth a look.
F:NV Ultimate edition doesn't carry too steep a price tag, and it has all the DLC bundled with it.

I remember reading that NV has more glitches. Is it really noticeable?

That's the reason the game has had bad press (and rightly so! There's no excuse for it).
Two spectacular glitches I enountered in the past have been:
-I shot one robot which caused every single other robot in the game to explode, making it impossible to proceed at certain points.
-In order to complete a mission I had to return to a bar an talk to someone. Unfortunately; I couldn't, as that someone, along with everyone else in the building, were all sat in the same chair.....including a dog. Glitch city. I couldn't get near them.
And then, of course, there's the wildlife that gets stuck in the environment. I stumbled actoss a field of RadScorpions once. Only thing above ground were there stingers.

but even so there shouldn't be ways of breaking the game just by playing it normally and not going out of your way to find faults :(

F3 is pretty much the best game I've played, ever.
I get bored easily, and rarely finish any game - but F3 kept me hooked until I'd done all the missions, sidequests and the DLCs. The atmosphere and 50's-esque look and feel is amazing, the soundtrack superb, and the black humour subtle and enjoyable.
The only game ever to get 7 Ocelots on the Barry Big Bollocks Scale of Awesome.
