the only thing that saved it from the toiletwas jack nicholson's performance. at least it was nowhere near as rambling and pointlessly odd as the book.

Nicholson's great as always and he gave it his all, but the script was lacking.The book gave a reason for the stuff that happened rather than just 'man sees ghosts, goes mental'. Thought the TV movie was a bit better, much closer to the source anyway.
