yeah, as with any book/film thingythey need approaching differently. if i were comparing the film to the book i would have to say it is shit and would not inspire me to seek out the book, had i not read it, which would be a shame. but as a film it's like, y'know, alright.
edit: ha, guess i could say the same for '84 and hitchhikers, which i discovered at about the same time book wise.

I read the book and then watched the filmIt seemed like a reasonable interpretation of the book, you know like a good attempt if not the best possible realisation of it, but I don't think a film version could ever really do the book justice. The book is just too good for reasons that make it unfilmable.

yeah the time line needs putting together in your own head in such a way that film doesn't lend itself to too wellor something like that... if that even makes any kind of sense outside of my own head
