# That's a commonly believed myth
The city was actually named after the cake, which was named after a Mr. Ernest Dundee, a baker from Nottingham. He moved north after a scandal involving Queen Victoria and an offer to taste his nuts. He chose what was at that time called 'Tayside Midden #1' because nobody of note ever went there. Eventually the people, most impressed by his baked goods, chose to rename the town in his honour.
