What about having everyone pay for a 'service' which is basically censored, via influence, by the government? It doesn't seem trivial to me, it seems like a fundamental step in a very worrying direction.

The conservatives have been pushing rightwing politicians/ editors into the BBC for a long time
This decision is a double win fro the right wing - it stops stuff like this from airing and it destroys the BBC reputation - thus allowing them to justify cutting funds and let BBC die a slow painful death
