combination of CSS (float: left; height: somefixedamount px;) on .profilebox and putting a </DIV> at the start of the profile to get rid of width constraint.

but I've found float: left; very useful for gallery displays of DIVs that are all the same shape - I use it here at work to support a slide-sorter type interface to our images.
