it doesn't even register its existence
i'm in windows now (in which it does work) but if i switch over to linux it doesn't seem to detect it

righto
what you have to see first if linux registers it as a usb device.
so this by checking the kernel messages: running dmesg
and then if its detected you know your usb drivers are fucked. :)
