# the best part about a water filter
is you can put it in the fridge and have REALLY cold drinks without overdosing on sugar and fizz, or messing about with ice cubes.

# the worst part is
you have to keep filling it up and remember to buy the cartridges.

# It's not such the buying
as the changing of the carts which is a ball ache to rememeber...

# You could just stick a jug of tap water in the fridge.
Filters aren't really necessary unless you live somewhere odd.

# *
you ever tried london water ?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2003, 23:47, archived)
# Yeah, it's fine.
It usually beats most mineral waters in blind taste tests too.

# well
where i live, in hackney, it tastes like shit.

water in other parts of the country, ie: the midlands, tastes fine though to me.

so i'm not a complete whinger...

# the area where I live
has notoriously bad limescale.

You have a water filter, or you end up buying a new kettle every 6 months.

# i'd go with the latter,
because of the excitement that new kettle would bring.

# haven't you ever heard of descaler?
or distilled vinegar works amazingly well.
