ummm,i installed suse linux and that needed about sixty megs of updates as soon as it was installed.
actually, i learnt the hard way that xp home has absolutely all of the functionality of xp professional (minus IIS which i don't want), it's just undocumented. reboot into safe mode and you can do just about everything will all manner of extra fancy options, i seem to remember.
i love lovely xp home.

security updates mind.....not just general new version of packages.
thing is suse package every application.
so every program on your system gets updated. not just the os.
