
it`s making this odd noise when you boot into Windows?
haven`t come across it myself, but it sounds like it`s initialising some piece of hardware - did you turn off sounds in the multimedia settings? i.e. no 'whoooshy' shite sound when you log in, no 'clicky' noises when you browse web pages?
Win2K is smelly anyway :-)

Nah, there are no sounds enabled, one of the first things I turn off.
Only hardware I've added recently is a DVD burner, but unplugging that makes no difference.
My exhaust fan doesn't seem to be spinning any more, but thats not connected to the mobo, just to the PSU.
