Diesel cars are few and far in between here. I'd rather like a diesel, because the PRICE of diesel hasn't gone up.

depends
when you're driving them, no not usually... just when you play with the fuel
they've been making it run cleaner and greener nowadays too, and there's "city diesel" and there's even whole how-to guides on how to use recycled chipfat from the local fish&chip shop - even including paying excise duties, you can end up paying less than a pound a gallon and getting the same kind of mileage and performance AND a nicer smelling car ;)
