the george & dragon in epping high street used to be an old tavernpractically unchanged since the place was built (except for the addition of electricity, and some new beer lines).
There was a permanant cold spot in front of the fireplace, even if the fire was roaring away, it was always referred to as 'george's seat', as some old guy who was a regular for years always sat there, day in, day out, even after he kicked the proverbial bucket
unfortunantly, the pub got refurbished about 7 years ago, and 'george' left. i dont think he agreed with the decor, or the fact that the new owners gutted the place, and knocked down every non loadbearing wall, and turned it into a trendy winebar
