I hate when that happensthey usually have to throw away perfectly good stuff, because if they were to find another use for it then it obviously doesn't need replaced in the first place.
My ex-girlfriend retrieved a perfectly good Apple laser printer from a skip at her work a few years ago.
It worked fine (as far as I know to this day) - the toner cartridge didn't even need replaced.

I got a HP Lazerjet the same way . .I "liberate" the toner from work and it's been fine for ages now . .
